Upward Basketball and Cheerleading
Registration has begun for the 2009 Season!
The 2009 season is the seventh season of an Upward program at Hillvue Heights Church. Hundreds of children have benefited from the unique Upward format, which combines fundamental basketball skills and competition with equal opportunities for all participants, a strong emphasis on teamwork and respecting authority, and Bible devotions at every practice.
Volunteers are needed to coach, assist, referee, serve concessions, share testimonies, keep score, and to set out chairs afterwards for Sunday morning worship. This is an awesome opportunity to encourage children and help introduce them to Christ and Biblical fellowship. Contact Burt Stinson at (270) 842-0012, ext 173 for more information. Some volunteer positions will require a background check.
- The league is open to all children in kindergarten through 6th grade, regardless of previous sports experience or ability
- Practices will begin the week of Monday, January 5, 2009
- Games will run each Saturday beginning January 17, 2009
- Awards Celebration is March 14, 2009.
- Everyone who signs up participates, and all get equal playing/cheer time
- All practices and games will be held at Hillvue Heights Church
Registration forms and volunteer applications are available at the information kiosk in the atrium. Form and registration fee may be dropped off at Hillvue Heights Church anytime between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.
Early registration (before November 7) is $55. After November 7, the cost is $65.Basketball shorts are optional at a cost of $15. Cheerleading mock turtlenecks are also optional at a cost of $15. All checks should be made to Hillvue Heights Church.
All participants must attend one basketball evaluation or cheerleading orientation. These will be in the worship center as follows:
- K -2nd Grade - Tuesday, November 11 between 6pm and 8pm
- 3rd-4th Grade - Thursday, November 13 between 6pm and 8pm
- 5th-6th Grade - Friday, November 14 between 6pm and 8pm
