When you put on a luncheon or a banquet, don't invite your friends, brothers, relatives, and rich neighbors. For they will invite you back, and that will be your only reward. Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. Then at the resurrection of the righteous, God will reward you for inviting those who could not repay you. - Jesus, Luke 14:12-14
Jesus Prom is a yearly, themed event held by Hillvue Heights Church for physically and mentally challenged individuals age 16 and older. Many people in our church come in to serve in various ways. Our first Jesus Prom was held February 18, 2011 with the theme "Welcome to the Kingdom." This event had about 150 attendees, and they were treated like kings and queens for the day. They were pampered by approximately 300 volunteers who served as escorts, photographers, decorators, beauticians, entertainers, and more.
Our next Jesus prom will be February 1st, 2013 from 6:30-10 pm. Participants are encouraged to dress casually this year, so no formal wear is necessary.
