Hillvue Heights Church

stage at Godstock

What is Godstock?

Since 1992, Hillvue has celebrated Godstock at the Barren River State Resort Park. This annual churchwide campout is held every September and is a significant event in the life of our church.

Godstock is an annual weekend of camping and outdoor fun and worship with your family and friends and the rest of the church at Barren River State Park. It takes place the weekend after Labor Day, and we host worship experiences on Friday and Saturday nights at the Highland Games Field. We have a variety of events through the day on Saturday, including a golf scramble and children's activities. All of these culminate in a baptism service at the lake on Sunday morning, where dozens of people confess their faith in Jesus Christ through baptisms at the lake.

For three days, we camp together, play together, eat together, and worship together. It's a great time of enjoying life with family, friends, and the Body of Christ.

On Friday and Saturday nights, we gather at the Highland Games Field to worship through some powerful moments of song and preaching. The presentation of the good news about Jesus is a central element of these services, so we invite everyone we can to attend. Our prayer each year is that the Godstock worship services will be a great time for believers to worship together, and for those who are yet to believe to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ

During the day, a variety of fun activities are available to enjoy together. Fishing, boating, swimming, horseback riding, a golf tournament, and organized games for kids are just a few of those activities. In the evening, all across the campground we gather to share stories, get to know each other, grill out, and just enjoy God's creation. Whether you want to rough it with a tent and a campfire or commune with others in an air-conditioned space, accommodations are available for a variety of campground experiences.

Many people look forward to the opportunity to just fellowship with others from the church in the unscheduled times at the campground and the lake. Every campfire becomes an opportunity to meet new people and deepen the relationships that we have with each other. It's a big part of doing life together, and we encourage people to relish these opportunities by camping or staying at the lodge and spending the weekend at the lake with the church.

On Sunday morning, Godstock culminates with the church gathering on the shore of Barren River Lake to witness baptisms and to celebrate the new life we have all found in our relationships with Jesus Christ. For those who don't make the trek out to the lake, we typically have a single worship service at Hillvue at 9:30 that Sunday.

Godstock is a great weekend together and always a weekend to remember. We hope you'll join us for the next Godstock.
