The Big 5 are 5 faith practices to which we devote ourselves. Over the years, we have observed and personally experienced that healthy followers of Jesus are actively engaged in all 5 faith practices on a regular basis.
The Big 5 are not something we created. They are practices that are found in scripture and were an important part of the New Testament church described in Acts 2:41-47.
"Those who accepted his (Peter's) message were baptized and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."
In this passage, we find the five faith practices to which the Acts 2 church committed themselves. Hillvue Heights Church strongly identifies itself with the structure of this New Testament Church.
The Acts 2 Church was committed to at least five faith practices that we are committed to also.
Participation in The Big 5 is how we stay healthy as followers of Jesus.
It is also how we fulfill the mission of C3HD
